IAMD is offering a number of volunteering positions spanning Genetic counsellor, Doctor, Social media manager and many others. You will receive a certificate acknowledging your invaluable contribution to the betterment of individuals and families living with Muscular Dystrophy.

Genetic counsellor (online)

About the opportunity

This is a great opportunity for a Genetic Counsellor to gain valuable experience volunteering for Indian Association of Muscular Dystrophy (IAMD), aiming to provide high-quality clinical genetic counselling remotely (via Zoom or WhatsApp). You will encounter a caring environment working with individuals where you can make a real difference, enhance your clinical experience, knowledge and appropriate counselling skills.

You will work hand in hand with the IAMD team, while gaining exposure to a wide range of general adult and paediatric cases. The role is exceptionally rewarding and you will gain valuable skills working with a diverse range of families.

What you’ll be doing

You will provide genetic counselling to clients and their families in general contexts. This includes provision of risk information and facilitation of diagnostic genetic/genomic testing. You will also provide support to clients and their families to assist in their understanding of genetic risk and diagnoses. You will also be asked to hold online education sessions for families visiting IMDRC Manav Mandir and create educational videos, blog articles for families.

Where you’ll be working

You will be working remotely and host Zoom / WhatsApp video sessions with staff, patients and their families. Additionally, you may also be asked to host education sessions for staff and/or families.

How much time will you need to dedicate and for how long?

Doctors / Neurologists having experience with Muscular Dystrophy (online)

About the opportunity

This is a great opportunity for a Doctor or Neurologist having experience diagnosing Muscular Dystrophy afflicted individuals to gain valuable experience volunteering for Indian Association of Muscular Dystrophy (IAMD), aiming to provide high-quality medical services remotely (via Zoom or WhatsApp). You will encounter a caring environment working with individuals where you can make a real difference, enhance your clinical experience, knowledge and appropriate counselling skills.

What you’ll be doing

You will provide remote diagnostic services to individuals affected by Muscular Dystrophy. IAMD may call upon your services to offer consultation to families prior to and during their visit, provide medical advice on Muscular Dystrophy management based on based on their assessed condition. You may also be requested to write a formal report advising families their therapy, medication and day to day MD management regime.

Social media manager

About the Opportunity

We are looking for a talented Social media manager to administer our social media accounts. You will be responsible for creating original text,managing posts and responding to followers. You will manage our NGO image in a cohesive way to achieve our goals.

As a Social media manager, we expect you to be up-to-date with the latest digital technologies and social media trends. You should have excellent good skills and be able to express our company’s views creatively. Ultimately, you should be able to handle our social media presence ensuring high levels of web traffic and customer engagement.

Responsibilities:

  • Write a blog post every fortnight
  • Design and implement social media strategy to align with our goals of spreading awareness.
  • Generate, edit, publish and share engaging content (e.g. original text, photos, videos and news)
  • Monitor SEO and web traffic metrics
  • Communicate with followers, respond to queries in a timely manner and monitor customer reviews
  • Oversee social media accounts’ design (e.g. Instagram, Youtube Facebook timeline cover, profile pictures and blog layout)
  • Suggest and implement new features to develop NGO promotions
  • Stay up-to-date with current technologies and trends in social media, design tools and applications

Desired skills and experience:

  • Proven work experience as a Social media manager
  • Hands on experience in content management
  • Ability to deliver creative content (text, image and video)
  • Excellent communication skills

Physiotherapist

About the Opportunity

Physiotherapist Responsibilities:

  • Meeting with patients to assess what their physical challenges are and deciding on suitable treatment programmes. 
  • Monitoring the progress of patients and adjusting or changing treatments as needed.
  • Involving the families and caregivers of patients in their treatment programmes and the delivery of care and on how to live a healthy lifestyle and prevent injuries.
  • Updating and maintaining accurate patient case notes and reports
  • Staying up to date regarding new physiotherapy technologies and techniques 
  • Supervising and guiding student and junior Physiotherapists 
  • Initiating and participating in evidence-based projects to improve the quality of patient care
  • Making assessments of patients’ physical conditions.
  • Formulating treatment plans to address the conditions and needs of patients.
  • Counselling patients.
  • Planning and organizing physiotherapy and fitness programs.

Physiotherapist Requirements:

  • Degree in physiotherapy.
  • Experience working as a physiotherapist.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build and maintain rapport with patients.
  • Teamwork skills.
  • Administration skills.
  • Good health and fitness.
  • Tolerance and patience.
