Boccia, a Paralympic sport designed for athletes with severe physical disabilities, is gaining traction in India. The Integrated Muscular Dystrophy Rehabilitation Center (IMDRC) in Himachal Pradesh plays a crucial role in this growth, having built an international-standard wooden court where national-level players train.

Since 2021, many athletes have trained and honed their skills at IMDRC, with several representing India in international competitions in Bahrain, Hong Kong, and Paris. Notably, at the World Boccia Challenger 2024 in Cairo, Egypt, the team trained at IMDRC won five medals, including one gold, two silver, and four bronze. Anjali Devi, who trained at IMDRC, secured the gold medal. This development highlights the increasing opportunities for athletes with disabilities to excel in Boccia and compete on a global stage.
